Description: This is a woman impressionist artist who studied with John Twachtman. Ann Crane was educated in Europe and was a student of the French academic painter Luc-Olivier Merson. She exhibited at the National Academy Design between 1911 in 1926. Well-known masters such Gilbert Stuart, Thomas Gainsborough, George Romney, as well as the leading American painters of the day, were represented in her exhibitions. She was also the wife of famous painter, Bruce Crane. Her and her husband lived in Bronxville New York. This is a whimsical winter scene with whispy brushstrokes and a more pastel color palette to portray softness. This painting is signed lower right and is on a lined canvas. It is in excellent condition overall and is a great piece!
