Description: Alfonso T. Toran is a Florida artist from the late 19th early 20th century. His works display bold animal portraits, mostly in birds and fish. Later on in his painting career, he moved to New York City and made murals and private paintings for some of America’s most esteemed art collectors. He later moved to Hollywood to write and further worked on composing miniatures, which he showed twice annually in New York’s Greenwich Village. The soft color palette evokes a sense of calmness and the serenity of nature. The almost hazy and monotone background of the image really emphasizes the bright and detailed foreground. This is a well recognized piece from this artist and has a great provenance. This painting is signed in bottom left and comes without frame in excellent condition.
